Overview

The Crown Season 5 continues the story of Queen Elizabeth II, now played by Imelda Staunton. The season covers the years 1991 to 1997. It explores the "annus horribilis" of 1992, when three of her children's marriages fell apart and Windsor Castle caught fire; the rise of Prime Minister John Major (Jonny Lee Miller); and the divorce of Prince Charles and Diana. The fifth season ends with the death of Diana, which is depicted in the sixth season.
