The Sandman Season 2
Overview
The Sandman Season 2 is the upcoming second season of Netflix's fantasy drama, based on the acclaimed comic book series by Neil Gaiman. The second season will adapt the next volumes of the comic, including Season of Mists and A Game of You, two of the most beloved arcs in the series' run. The season picks up after the events of Season 1, where Dream (Tom Sturridge), also known as Morpheus, the Lord of Dreams, has rebuilt his kingdom after a century of captivity. But his problems are far from over. The season begins with Dream receiving an unexpected visitor: Lucifer Morningstar, the ruler of Hell, who has decided to abdicate her throne. She gives Dream the key to Hell, telling him that he can do whatever he wants with it. Suddenly, every pantheon and power in the universe wants the key — angels, demons, gods from every mythology, and beings older than time itself. Dream must decide what to do with Hell, and his decision will have consequences for all of creation. The season also adapts A Game of You, which follows Barbie (a minor character from Season 1) as she dreams of a magical land called the Skerry, where a young girl named Martin Tenbones needs her help. The Land is under threat from the Cuckoo, a creature that wants to destroy it. Barbie must assemble a team of unlikely heroes — her neighbors in a New York apartment building, including a trans woman, a lesbian couple, and a woman with dissociative identity disorder — to save the Land and herself. The season introduces new characters from the Endless family: Dream's siblings Death (the kindest being in the universe), Desire (androgynous and manipulative), Despair (quiet and cruel), Delirium (chaotic and sad), and Destiny (blind and bound to his book). The second season also introduces fan-favorite characters like Thessaly, a powerful witch; Lyta Hall, whose child will become the new Dream; and the Three Witches, who appear throughout the series. The Sandman Season 2 has been announced and is in production, with Neil Gaiman heavily involved in the writing and production.
