Squid Game Season 2
Overview
Squid Game Season 2 continues the story of Seong Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae), the winner of the deadly children's games who is now determined to destroy the organization behind them from the inside. The season picks up where Season 1 left off: Gi-hun has decided not to board the plane to see his daughter in the United States. Instead, he turns around, his face set with grim determination, determined to confront the mysterious organization behind the games and expose them to the world. The second season follows Gi-hun as he tracks down the elusive Front Man and the wealthy VIPs who gamble on the lives of desperate contestants. He is aided by a former police officer who survived the island, Jun-ho (Wi Ha-joon), who has spent years gathering evidence and building a network of informants. Together, they infiltrate the organization, with Gi-hun volunteering to re-enter the games as a player to gather evidence from inside. Meanwhile, a new Squid Game is underway with a fresh set of 456 desperate contestants, each with their own heartbreaking stories of debt, desperation, and shattered dreams. The games are different this time — new childhood games from Korean culture, each deadlier and more psychologically brutal than before. The season introduces new characters who become fan favorites: a desperate single mother, a disgraced former politician, a North Korean defector, and a mysterious old man who seems to know too much. The season ends on a devastating cliffhanger that sets up the third and final season.
