Overview

The Wire Season 1 is the first season of HBO's crime drama, widely considered one of the greatest television series of all time. The first season is set in Baltimore, Maryland, and it explores the drug trade through the eyes of both law enforcement and drug dealers. The first season follows a wiretap investigation led by Detective Jimmy McNulty (Dominic West) into the drug organization of Avon Barksdale (Wood Harris). The first season is a realistic, gritty, and complex crime drama. The season ends with Barksdale being arrested, but the drug trade continuing.
