Overview
Wednesday is a 2022 supernatural mystery comedy horror television series directed by Tim Burton for Netflix, based on the character Wednesday Addams from The Addams Family. The first season stars Jenna Ortega as Wednesday Addams, a morbid, sarcastic, and fiercely independent teenager who has been expelled from several schools for her violent and unusual methods of dealing with bullies. Her parents, Gomez (Luis Guzmán) and Morticia (Catherine Zeta-Jones), send her to their alma mater, Nevermore Academy, a school for outcasts — vampires, werewolves, sirens, gorgons, and other supernatural beings. Wednesday is determined to escape, but she finds herself drawn into a mystery. Students at Nevermore have been murdered by a monster, and Wednesday decides to investigate. The first season follows Wednesday as she solves the mystery and makes friends for the first time. The most famous scene of the series is Wednesday's dance at the school's Rave'N dance, which became a viral sensation. Wednesday was a massive success for Netflix, becoming the most-watched English-language series on the platform. A second season is in production.
