The Theory of Everything is a 2014 biographical romantic drama film directed by James Marsh, based on the life of the physicist Stephen Hawking (Eddie Redmayne) and his relationship with his wife, Jane (Felicity Jones). The film follows Hawking from his graduate school days at Cambridge University, where he is diagnosed with motor neuron disease, to his later years as a world-famous physicist. He is given only two years to live. Jane is a young, brilliant student who falls in love with Stephen and decides to marry him, despite his diagnosis.
