The Witcher is a 2019 fantasy drama television series created by Lauren Schmidt Hissrich for Netflix, based on the book series by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski. The series stars Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia, a solitary, mutated monster hunter known as a Witcher. Geralt is a "Witcher" — a human who has been subjected to genetic mutations and rigorous training that gives him superhuman strength, speed, reflexes, and the ability to survive the toxins needed to hunt monsters. He is also sterile, which isolates him from normal human life.
