Overview
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is a 2022 fantasy television series created by J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay for Amazon Prime Video, based on the appendices of J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings. The first season is set thousands of years before the events of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, during the Second Age of Middle-earth. The first season follows an ensemble cast of characters across multiple storylines, including Galadriel (Morfydd Clark), who is hunting Sauron; Elrond (Robert Aramayo), a young elf; Durin IV (Owain Arthur), a dwarf prince; and the harfoots, the ancestors of the hobbits. The first season was a critical and commercial success, praised for its visuals, its music, and its ambition. The show is a must-see for fans of The Lord of the Rings and for anyone who loves a good, epic fantasy. The show is the most expensive television series ever made. A second season has been released.
