Overview
Only Murders in the Building is a 2021 mystery comedy-drama television series created by Steve Martin and John Hoffman for Hulu. The series stars Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez as three strangers who share an obsession with true crime and who live in the same luxurious Upper West Side apartment building, the Arconia. When a murder occurs in their building, they decide to investigate and record a podcast about it. The series is a loving parody of true crime podcasts, and it is a celebration of New York City. The trio is: Charles-Haden Savage (Steve Martin), a former television actor; Oliver Putnam (Martin Short), a struggling Broadway director; and Mabel Mora (Selena Gomez), a young artist who has a mysterious connection to the building. The series features a rotating cast of guest stars, including Nathan Lane, Amy Ryan, Sting, and Meryl Streep. Only Murders in the Building has been a critical and commercial success, winning two Primetime Emmy Awards. The series is praised for its writing, its performances, and its clever, twisty plotting. A fourth season is in production.
