Longlegs
Overview
Longlegs is a 2024 psychological horror thriller film written and directed by Oz Perkins. The film stars Maika Monroe as Lee Harker, a young, intuitive FBI agent; Nicolas Cage as Longlegs, a mysterious, terrifying serial killer; and Blair Underwood as Agent Carter, Harker's superior. The film is set in the 1990s, in the Pacific Northwest. Lee Harker is a gifted but troubled agent. She is assigned to a cold case: a series of family annihilations, where the father kills his entire family and then himself. She discovers that each family received a mysterious, coded letter from someone named "Longlegs." She tracks down the killer, who is a dollmaker who uses Satanic rituals to possess the fathers. Nicolas Cage gives a haunting, unrecognizable performance as Longlegs, a pale, gaunt, and strangely seductive figure. The film is a slow-burn, atmospheric, and deeply unsettling horror film. It is a meditation on evil, obsession, and the nature of faith. Longlegs was a critical and commercial success, earning over $100 million on a $10 million budget. The film was praised for its atmosphere, its performances, and its terrifying villain.
