Overview

Loki is a 2021 science fiction television series created by Michael Waldron for Disney+, the third series in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The series stars Tom Hiddleston as Loki, the God of Mischief, who escapes from the Avengers in an alternate timeline during the events of Avengers: Endgame. He is captured by the Time Variance Authority (TVA), a bureaucratic organization that monitors the "Sacred Timeline." He is forced to help the TVA hunt down a variant of himself, Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino). The series is a time-traveling, mind-bending, and philosophical exploration of identity, free will, and the nature of time. Loki is a charming, selfish, and manipulative character, but he is forced to confront his own flaws and to grow as a person. He falls in love with Sylvie, a female version of himself. The series ends with Sylvie killing He Who Remains (Jonathan Majors), the creator of the TVA, and unleashing the multiverse. Loki was a critical and commercial success, winning two Primetime Emmy Awards. A second season was released in 2023, and a third is in development.
