Overview
Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery is a 2022 mystery film written and directed by Rian Johnson, the sequel to the 2019 film Knives Out. The film stars Daniel Craig as Benoit Blanc, the world's greatest detective, who is invited to a private island in Greece by a billionaire, Miles Bron (Edward Norton). The film is set during the COVID-19 pandemic, in 2020. Miles is a tech billionaire who is hosting a murder mystery party for his closest friends: Birdie Jay (Kate Hudson), a fashion designer; Claire Debella (Kathryn Hahn), a politician; Lionel Toussaint (Leslie Odom Jr.), a scientist; Duke Cody (Dave Bautista), a men's rights influencer; and Whiskey (Madelyn Cline), Duke's girlfriend. Also present is Andi Brand (Janelle Monáe), Miles's former business partner, who is suing him. The murder mystery party goes wrong when a real murder occurs. Blanc must solve the mystery, and he discovers that Miles is a fraud and a murderer. The film is a witty, clever, and entertaining whodunit, with a sharp satirical edge. It features a star-studded cast, beautiful production design, and a memorable twist ending. Glass Onion was a critical and commercial success, earning over $500 million worldwide. It was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay.
