Face/Off
Overview
Face/Off is a 1997 action thriller film directed by John Woo, starring John Travolta as Sean Archer, an FBI agent, and Nicolas Cage as Castor Troy, a terrorist. Archer has been hunting Troy for years. After Troy kills Archer's son, Archer captures him. Troy is in a coma, and Archer discovers that Troy has planted a bomb somewhere in Los Angeles. Archer undergoes a face transplant surgery, swapping his face with Troy's, to go undercover and find the bomb. The film is a wild, over-the-top action movie, with Woo's signature style: slow-motion, doves, and dual-wielded pistols. Face/Off was a critical and commercial success, earning over $245 million worldwide. It was praised for its performances, its action sequences, and its absurd, but entertaining, premise.
