Creed III
Overview
Creed III is a 2023 sports drama film directed by Michael B. Jordan, who also stars as Adonis Creed. The film is the third installment in the Creed series, and the ninth film in the Rocky franchise. The film is set several years after the events of Creed II. Adonis Creed is a retired heavyweight champion, now living a comfortable life with his wife, Bianca (Tessa Thompson), and his daughter, Amara. He is haunted by his past, and by his childhood friendship with Damian "Dame" Anderson (Jonathan Majors), a talented boxer who went to prison for a crime that Adonis committed. Dame is released from prison, and he wants the life that Adonis has. He challenges Adonis to a fight, and he defeats him. Adonis must train to regain his title and to confront his past. The film is a meditation on friendship, guilt, and the price of success. It features a memorable, visually inventive final fight, set in a stylized, empty arena. Creed III was a critical and commercial success, earning over $275 million worldwide. The film was praised for its performances, its direction, and its emotional depth.
