Overview
The Bear is a 2022 comedy-drama television series created by Christopher Storer for Hulu, set in the kitchen of a sandwich shop in Chicago. The first season follows Carmen "Carmy" Berzatto (Jeremy Allen White), a young, brilliant chef who has worked in some of the best restaurants in the world. After his older brother Michael commits suicide, Carmy returns to Chicago to run the family's struggling sandwich shop, The Original Beef of Chicagoland. The shop is a disaster: it is deeply in debt, the equipment is broken, the kitchen is a mess, and the staff is resistant to change. The first season is a masterpiece of tension, with episodes that feel like panic attacks. The kitchen staff is a collection of misfits. The first season ends with the shop closing for renovations.
